Greenfeathers is priviledged to join in INTACH-Vizag's initiative 'Diwali with a Heart!' / 'Dilwali Diwali!' / Diwali - My Way! INTACH is Indian National Trust for Arts and Cultural Heritage and works for conservation and preservation of India's Heritage Wealth - be it built structures of historical and aesthetic significance, our natural environment as well as our traditional and indegenious art and craft forms.
Eco-Diwali initiative is floated in line with INTACH's objectives to play role of catalyst to usher in essential changes in our conventional modes of thought and action while keeping the spirit of activity alive and vibrant.
Every ritual / activity practiced over time carries the risk of losing its original thought and is likely to become more superficial with time. Diwali is a celebration of good over evil, with this thought in mind, could we look towards safe-guarding our ‘society goods’ against ‘society evils’. When we have ‘sharing’, ‘caring’, empathy, sympathy, peace, joy and happiness on one side and ‘over the top consumerism’, ‘noise’, ‘shopping excesses’, ‘flashiness’, ‘air pollution’ on the other it is not hard to identify the ‘good’ over ‘evil’ in today’s context.
It is with this thought in mind that we appeal to you - to float an idea, a concept of celebrating Diwali in a new light so to say. A new awakening, a new consciousness, a new mode of celebration that is more sensitive to the needs of those less priviledged, of elderly, of those recuperating in hospitals and homes, of babies and those with limited tolerance to noise and atmospheric pollution. Let us celebrate this Diwali that is more inclusive, sharing and caring for all.

* Create awareness about pollution effects to general population, animals and birds, asthma patients, babies
* Light traditional diyas rather than electric ones
* Create awareness about noise effects to hospitals and old-age homes
* Avoid Consumerism, share items with those less priviledged
* Limit cracker time
