GREEN ANNOUNCEMENTS
YUVA Meet 2012: ‘Conserving Global Commons: Transforming Knowledge into Action’: This year, the 4th YUVA Meet will be organized on 30th and 31st January, 2012 and will focus on the theme: ‘Conserving Global Commons: Transforming Knowledge into Action’. Despite the vast knowledge and information available about the impact of human activities on environment, little has been done towards conservation of global commons. The YUVA Meet 2012 will focus on how this knowledge can be converted into action and inspire the youth to work towards a sustainable future.

YUVA Meet
: Considering that the youth are the future of the world, DSDS encourages the participation of youngsters at the summit by organizing Youth Unite for Voluntary Action (YUVA) Meet that brings together youngsters from all over the world. During the two-day meet, that precedes the DSDS, the young audience attends talks by leading experts on environmental issues and understand ways in which climate change can be mitigated, through group activities and role plays. One outstanding youth is awarded the Green Globe award and some are selected to be delegates at the DSDS.
The YUVA Meet 2012 is being organized in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and British Council with the active support from the United Nations University. As part of YUVA Meet, a series of seminars are being organized in 7 states and Union Territories of the country. The objective of these seminars is to focus on issues related to conservation and protection of regional commons and provide a platform for deliberation on actions required towards implementing the concept of sustainable development.
